About Me

I fell in love with Jackson Hole when first introduced to the area by the Butcher family. When I decided to spend the summer of '11 out here in JH, a former Pingry athlete, Katie Occhipinti, suggested I blog the adventure. I had no idea what a blog was but Katie O set the whole thing up and got me on my way. Last summer was a tremendous experience. The blog details all the great fun I shared with friends from June '11 - Oct. '11. Even before I left to head back to SRQ, I knew I wanted more of JH. I am now back in JH for "Adventure Summer Round Two!" Many friends have encouraged me to continue the blog this summer ...... so here we go! I arrived to town on June 12th and immediately felt at home. I am looking forward to another summer of hiking, biking and visits from friends. I once again look forward to sharing this experience with all of my friends who have planned to visit me out here. I also look forward to sharing the experience with my friends who follow this blog. Enjoy the pictures and the adventure. Happy summer to everyone!

Horseback Trail Ride Jedediah Smith Wilderness Area

Trail ride on the South Fork Teton Valley Trail
The day after the wedding, Vicky arranged for those ladies still in town to enjoy a 5 hour trail ride and lunch.  It was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time.  I have been spoiled with the trails and horses at the Triangle X.  I did not believe that any other ranch could have trails equal to the beauty of the trails at the Triangle X.  It was easy to tell from the very beginning, that the trail in the Jedediah Smith Wilderness Area was spectacular.  It was a beautiful ride and the lunch was delicious.

The scenerary was breath taking.  Royal blue skis, fields of wild flowers and snow covered mountains.

Vicky and Kevin's Beautiful Wedding

Vicky and Kevin
I have been to many weddings in my time but none as beautiful and as special as the wedding of Vicky and Kevin.  It was a magnificent setting for two very special and blessed people.  With the Grand Tetons as their backdrop, Kevin and Vicky officially became husband and wife.  There was not a dry eye watching this very special ceremony.

A private lesson in LOVE !
Vicky's brother Steve walked her down the aisle.  Marla and April served as Vicky's attendants and Kevin's brothers Bruce and Chuck stood by his side.  It was a very nice family affair.  Every detail was as classy as Vicky and Kevin.

White Water Rafting and Pre-Wedding Party at Marla and Mike's

On Saturday, Alli, Susan, Andrew and I decided to brave the Snake River.  Susan graciously hosted all of us for this exciting but chilly adventure.  We met at the headquarters of Barker-Ewing rafting company in Jackson.  Once we checked in and explained that we were "cold weather wimps" from Florida, they gave us the full body wet suits and booties to put on in an effort to stay warm on the river.

The full body wet suit we requested to wear for warmth.
Getting in was not easy

Once all "wet suited up" we boarded the bus which transported us south past Hoback Junction to our launch site on the Snake River.

Our transportation to the river launch site

It was close to a 30 or 40 minute drive to where we met our raft guide and boarded our raft for the trip down the snake.  The river is not as fast or as high as it was in June, but we still had a blast riding the rapids.  We traveled through 4 different rapids and traveled the Snake River for 8 miles.  We got SOAKED and I was more than thrilled to be in my whole body wet suit.  The water temp was about 57 degrees and that is damn cold to me.

Ready to take on the Snake River

They won't let you bring cameras on the river, so I do not have any pictures of us in action.  Just know that we laughed our asses off as we got soaked with each rapid.

After we made it safely off the river and traded the wet suits for dry clothes !
After spending a few hours on the river we were starving, so we headed to the Snake River Brewery for  a bit of lunch.

Lunch at Snake River Brewery

After lunch, we had to hurry home for a quick shower and clothing change.  Marla and Mike, Vicky's sister and brother in law, were hosting a pre-wedding bbq for the happy couple.  Marla and Mike have a fabulous home in Jackson and everyone had a wonderful time getting together again.

Moose
Marla and Mike's home is located very near to the river.  This means they have many real moose visitors to their home all year long.  They also have many cute moose decorations throughout their beautiful home.

Wedding Week Parties and Fun

With all of the wedding guests in town and a fun and busy schedule, I have been delinquent with my postings.  It has been a great few days with everyone in town and enjoying Jackson Hole and the excitement of Kevin and Vicky's.

Bruce, Kevin, Vicky and Chuck.  The western wedding hat was made by Donna!

On Friday, Vicky and Kevin hosted a yummy dinner at my house (because it is close to airport) as different friends and family members arrived in town.  The beautiful views of the Tetons made for a lovely backdrop to such a special time.  There was much laughter and enjoyment all night long.  I do believe that Kevin's sister in law Donna won the award for most fun when she arrived from Louisville decked out in western wear (she made both Maisch brothers and sister in law Barbara join in) and with a special "fascinator" for Kevin and Vicky to wear!  It was a most fun evening and the Maisch/Johnson
family members had a great time "kicking it up" together.

It was a great evening to just be with old and new friends.  There was not a shy person in the room.  Did I say it was great fun?  It was really great fun.

Music on Main Street in Victor, Idaho

Music on Main in Victor, Idaho

Tonight I joined up with all the "wedding folk" to check out  Music on Main in Victor, Idaho.  The main headline musical act was Willie Nelson's son.  My friends Vicky and Kevin are renting a house in Victor, so the group was gathering at their house before heading to Main Street.

View from Vicky and Kevin's place
The weather began to change and we could see a few thunder storms rolling into the area.  Against better judgement, a car full of us headed to Main Street to check out the action.  There was a pretty nice size crowd at the concert and food booths from all the local restaurants.  The rain did come in and that sent us back to Vicky and Kevin's seeking dry shelter.

Vicky and Kevin's Wedding Week Begins !

It was a rainy morning in Jackson Hole today and gave me the perfect excuse to skip the gym and hang in the house.  Andrew and Susan were arriving around 2:00pm, so I spent the morning getting the house ready and catching up on paper work.

My Sarasota friends Vicky and Kevin are getting married on Sunday.  We are all so happy for them and excited about all the fun that is planned this week.  Family members and guest have started to arrive and tonight we enjoyed a great meal at Snake River Grill.  The Eskimo pie dessert was awesome!
