About Me

I fell in love with Jackson Hole when first introduced to the area by the Butcher family. When I decided to spend the summer of '11 out here in JH, a former Pingry athlete, Katie Occhipinti, suggested I blog the adventure. I had no idea what a blog was but Katie O set the whole thing up and got me on my way. Last summer was a tremendous experience. The blog details all the great fun I shared with friends from June '11 - Oct. '11. Even before I left to head back to SRQ, I knew I wanted more of JH. I am now back in JH for "Adventure Summer Round Two!" Many friends have encouraged me to continue the blog this summer ...... so here we go! I arrived to town on June 12th and immediately felt at home. I am looking forward to another summer of hiking, biking and visits from friends. I once again look forward to sharing this experience with all of my friends who have planned to visit me out here. I also look forward to sharing the experience with my friends who follow this blog. Enjoy the pictures and the adventure. Happy summer to everyone!

Great Friday and Saturday in Jackson Hole

It has been a great Friday and Saturday in Jackson Hole.  I simply love it here and I am having a blast.  It is simply so beautiful that I find myself smiling all the time.  The peacefulness of the mountains is hard to explain.  I feel like a kid trapped in a pleasant state of wonderment.  I spent Friday driving around town and checking a few things out.  I joined the Jackson Hole Health and Fitness club and had a great first workout.  Everyone I meet is so very friendly.  I took part in a 45 minute "abs and core" class and had a killer workout.  I also had to laugh at myself because for the first time in a very long time, I was the oldest person in the place.  A very different feel than in Sarasota.  I also checked out the Teton Pines Tennis Club.  After doing a bit of shopping for the house (bought comfy chairs for the deck and a portable fire pit to use while on the deck) I headed back to the house.  I woke up early this morning to take part in open tennis play at Teton Pines Tennis Club.  While eating my breakfast, a single hot air balloon drifted by my deck with the Tetons in the background.

It was a beautiful drive to to the tennis club.  I started at 9:30 with a "warm up drill" with the pro and 3 other ladies.  At 10:00am, others joined us and the pro organized 3 courts of what they call "open tennis".  Their clay outdoor courts are not ready for play yet, so we played in their indoor bubble.  I have not done that since living in New Jersey.

Drove past this horse ranch on my way to and from tennis.

Buffalo in my backyard!

After returning from tennis, I spent some catch up time on the phone with Ranait Griff.  Always good to touch base with her and we spent time figuring out possible dates in August when she and her mom can make it out for a visit.  It would be great to have them here.  While eating a bit of lunch, I saw something large moving outside.  Looking out the wall of windows in the living room, I saw 8 buffalo in my backyard!  I grabbed the camera and ran out to the deck.  Buffalo are aggressive and will charge, so I safely stayed put on my deck.  I really wanted to get closer to get better pictures, but I knew Rashawn would be upset if I got charged by a buffalo resulting in him having to care for me for the rest of his life!  The buffalo are so cool and sooooo big.  They hung out in the yard for about 90 minutes before moving onto their next location.  I was so excited to see this site that I immediately started calling people to share my excitement.  After leaving 4 voice mails, Allison finally answered and had to listen to me squeal like a 10 year old that "there are 8 buffalo in my yard".  Did I mention how much I am loving this Jackson Hole Adventure?  Tonight I am heading to the Silver Dollar Saloon at The Wort Hotel to listen to a band that the tennis players were talking about.  I will have to share details of that experience tomorrow.
